Water Activities:
- Swimming - On blazing hot days, there is no better place to be than the refreshingly cool, pristine waters of Lake Rousseau. Whether campers are tadpoles just learning to swim or experienced acrobats doing flips off the diving board and jumping on the trampoline, the experienced lifesaving-certified instructors will make sure they have a blast making a splash.
- Canoeing/Kayaking - This is the perfect opportunity to cool off, get exercise, and explore the beauty of Lake Rousseau while learning how to canoe and kayak. Campers will paddle their way to fun as they try different strokes and learn useful boating skills.
- Snorkeling - Campers will get to see marine life up close and personal when they don masks and snorkels and slip beneath the surface of the lake. Aquatic adventures and exciting discoveries await...and there may even be buried treasure to be found!
- Waterskiing/Wakeboarding - If campers have a need for speed, then this class will satisfy their cravings for sure. Lifesaving-certified instructors teach kids to ride wakes, ski through the waves, and 'get air' tubing! In waterskiing, campers won't be walking on water--they'll be flying! Available as a special 2-period class.
Arts & Crafts:
- Model Rocketry - Campers learn about propulsion and aerodynamics as they construct their very own rockets. At the end of the week their hard work will pay off at the rocket show, when the new rocket scientists blast their creations high in the sky!
- Ceramics - It may not be Michelangelo, but campers will still make beautiful, unique dishes and pieces of sculpture. Whether perfecting an R2-D2 mug or an adorable sleeping puppy, campers will sand, paint, and polish to acheive a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
- Silk Screening - If fashion design is an interest, this is the place to be. From experimenting with colour in tie-dye to creating stencils and painting a shirt, campers create clothes that are completely unique and completely awesome.
- Country Crafts - A bevy of different opportunities await in this class. From delicate frosted glasses to rustic leather keychains to handmade greeting cards, and everything in between, campers will create special keepsakes to remember their time here at Frenda.
- Digital Photography - See the world in a different perspective--through a camera's lens! Whether a camper has never taken a picture before or is an old pro, they can still have a blast exploring the camp, seeing nature in a new light, and producing incredible photos to remember their time here.
- Radio DJ - If a camper wants to make his or her voice heard, this is the class for them! Participants will play music, conduct interviews, and do their own shows--and it's all broadcast live over Camp Frenda's radio station, Rescue 91.1!
- Drama - All the camp's a stage, with campers for players! Campers will stretch their their thespian muscles, get acting tips and tricks from a pro, and perform in a play at the end of the week.
- Guitar - The perfect chance to learn a new instrument or enhance exhisting talent, guitar class will provide opportunities for campers to practice chords, play musical games, and learn how to play praise songs so that they can better embrace their musical talents and glorify God.
Sports:
- Mountain Biking - Campers will have the opportunity to zoom over our many hills and bac kroads on brand new mountain bikes. This class offers speed, excitement, and a great way to see Frenda's natural beauty--quickly!
- Sports - Whether campers want to dominate a soccer tournament or just shoot some hoops, this is the place for them. Enthusiastic staff will get everyone involved as they learn teamwork and good sportsmanship, improve their athletic aility, and have fun.
- Archery - Campers will feel like Robin Hood when they take this class--well, minus the stealing. Under the watchful eye of experienced staff, campers will get to use top-of-the-line Bear Equipment bows and arrows as they learn to hit the target every time.
- Rock Climbing - Campers will reach new heights as they learn to climb and belay on the camp's natural rock wall. Our Challengers Unlimited-trained staff will ensure campers stay safe as they rappel and climb.
- Speed Stacking - Campers participate in a cup-stacking sport that will challenge their memorization skills and hand-eye coordination. Camp Frenda provides official WSSA equipment for this program.
- Gymnastics - Campers will flip, climb, and tumble their way to spectacular achievement as they have fun improving their flexibility and agility, and learn important lessons about teamwork. At the end of the week, the young gymnists will put on a tumblng show for all of their friends.
- Weight Training (men) - Male campers who want to pump iron and gain muscle should take this class. Instructors will make sure they exercise safely and properly and make their bodies stronger temples of the Holy Spirit.
- Fitness Training (ladies) - Staying in good shape can be hard--but this class can help. Instructors will teach young ladies simple yet effective techniques to tone their bodies and make them look better and feel healthier.
- Horsemanship - Every camper can feel like a cowpoke, whether they're new to riding or already saddle sore. Campers are sure to make wonderful memories as they learn skills and go for trail rides with the Equestrian Management-trained instructors.
- Outdoor Living Skills - Some campers want to get up close and personal with nature, and for them, there is this class! Campers will learn more about survival and God's creation as they practice building fires, orienteering, and more!
Extras:
- Evening Field Games - Regardless of what their classes are, campers and staff all come together to play games every night. Whether it's a thrilling camp-wide round of Manhunt or a fun excursion at the Carnival, campers will bond as they laugh and play together.
- Campfire - Every week a different speaker comes to camp to share God's love with the campers. On clear nights, staff and campers alike gather around a crackling wood fire to sing songs, listen to stories, and learn about their Saviour.
- TUCK SHOP - The perfect place to buy drinks, snacks, and Camp Frenda memorabilia, the tuck shop is open every weekday evening after supper. Nothing quite hits the spot like a jumbo freezie or ice-cold soda after a long day of activities and adventures.
